Questions & Answers

Question:

Can the this switch handle full line-rate 25G on all 48 ports plus 100G uplinks?

[email protected]
13-Jul-2025

Answer:

Yes. The DS2000 is non-blocking and delivers 2.0T switching capacity, allowing simultaneous 48x25G downlinks and 8x100G uplinks at full line rate.

Question:

How does this compare to something like a Broadcom DCS reference platform or an Arista 7050SX3?

[email protected]
13-Jul-2025

Answer:

Functionally, it’s in the same class... line-rate 25G ToR with 100G uplinks. However, the DS2000 is open, disaggregated, and supports SONiC or other ONIE-based NOSs. That means you’re not locked into a vendor stack and can run open-source or commercial NOS depending on your use case. It gives you more flexibility and TCO reduction.

Question:

Is SONiC fully supported on the DS2000?

[email protected]
13-Jul-2025

Answer:

Yes, SONiC is fully supported on the DS2000 through both open-source and commercial distributions. For lab environments, the community version works well. For production, we recommend a hardened commercial build that includes validated platform drivers, long-term support, and lifecycle tooling.

Question:

Can the switch run SONiC with a full BGP + EVPN fabric setup?

[email protected]
13-Jul-2025

Answer:

Yes, that’s a common use case. The DS2000’s L3 forwarding, ECMP, VRF, and VXLAN support make it suitable for BGP EVPN fabrics, assuming your SONiC build includes FRR or similar routing stack.
