Question:

What are the use cases for this switch?

[email protected]
16-Jul-2025

Answer:

The SN3420 switch is ideal for the ToR application.

Question:

Which network operating systems do these switches support?

[email protected]
16-Jul-2025

Answer:

It supports Cumulus Linux, SONiC, and any standard Linux distribution as the switch operating system with Linux Switch (Linux kernel driver model for Ethernet switches - switchdev).

Question:

Can I run containerized network functions or custom applications on these switches with Cumulus Linux?

[email protected]
16-Jul-2025

Answer:

Yes. Because Cumulus Linux is a full Linux OS, it supports running containers using Docker

Question:

How does Cumulus Linux integrate with network telemetry on these switches?

[email protected]
16-Jul-2025

Answer:

Cumulus Linux natively supports NVIDIA’s telemetry stack including streaming telemetry and What Just Happened (WJH) events.

Question:

Can Cumulus Linux coexist with SONiC on the same switch model?

[email protected]
16-Jul-2025

Answer:

Yes, though it may need testing to ensure interoperability for certain use cases. We have done in house testing for some features and functions.

Question:

Can I run SONiC on these?

[email protected]
16-Jul-2025

Answer:

Yes, its supports SONiC via ONIE. Please note though that the switch comes with Cumulus Linux pre-installed.
