Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

What is the M3000-14XC used for?

Hardware Nation
12-Oct-2026

Answer:

It is a fronthaul multiplexer for O-RAN deployments. It groups radio units into a shared cell and supports Cascade-FHM operation to extend coverage while making more efficient use of distributed-unit resources.

Question:

What ports does it have?

Hardware Nation
12-Oct-2026

Answer:

Eight 10G SFP+ interfaces face the radio units, four 10G SFP+ interfaces face the distributed unit, and two 100G QSFP28 interfaces are reserved. The datasheet currently makes only DU port 8 available; DU ports 9–11 are reserved.

Question:

What processor and FPGA does it use?

Hardware Nation
12-Oct-2026

Answer:

A quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor at 1.0 GHz and an Intel S10-TX FPGA, with 4 GB DDR4 memory.

Question:

Does it support fronthaul timing?

Hardware Nation
12-Oct-2026

Answer:

It supports SyncE and IEEE 1588v2 timing. GNSS and some timing modes depend on the Premium version and software licensing, so they should not be assumed on every configuration.

Question:

Is it suitable for outdoor cabinets?

Hardware Nation
12-Oct-2026

Answer:

Its operating temperature range is −40°C to 70°C, and its 1RU chassis is 250 mm deep. It is intended for installation in a suitable cabinet; this temperature rating is not an enclosure weatherproofing rating.

Question:

Does it have redundant power?

Hardware Nation
12-Oct-2026

Answer:

Yes. It uses hot-swappable power supplies with 1+1 redundancy. AC and DC PSU options are available, and the cooling uses four fixed fans.

Question:

How do I manage it?

Hardware Nation
12-Oct-2026

Answer:

Through CLI, SNMP or NETCONF. It also provides RJ45 management and serial-console interfaces.
