Frequently Asked Questions

Question:

What are the differences between P2C and C2P airflow?
[email protected]
17-Jul-2025

Answer:

P2C = Power-to-Connector airflow moves air from the power supply side (rear) to the connector side (front), while C2P = Connector-to-Power airflow moves air from the connector side (front) to the power supply side (rear), matching different data center cooling aisle configurations.

Question:

Does it come with Cumulus Linux installed?
[email protected]
12-Oct-2026

Answer:

Yes. The MSN4700-WS2RC ordering code is a Cumulus Linux configuration. Confirm the supplied software release and support entitlement in your quote.

Question:

What is included in the SN4700 switch package?
[email protected]
17-Jul-2025

Answer:

Its includes a fixed rail kit for specified rack sizes, four power cables (various types for compatibility), a harness (e.g., DB9 to RJ45 for console), and cable retainers.

Question:

Are there user experiences or issues with firmware and updates?
[email protected]
12-Oct-2026

Answer:

Firmware and software downloads depend on the product’s support entitlement and the NVIDIA account linked to it. Buying from an authorized source helps establish the correct entitlement, but it is not a guarantee of access without the required coverage.

Question:

Can I mount the SN4700 vertically to save space?
[email protected]
17-Jul-2025

Answer:

No, due to its thermal design, the SN4700 must be installed in a horizontal rack position.

Question:

Does it still support Onyx?
[email protected]
12-Oct-2026

Answer:

MSN4700-WS2RC is supplied with Cumulus Linux, not Onyx. For a new deployment, use a Cumulus Linux release qualified for the SN4700. An existing Onyx installation needs its own hardware, software-release and support-entitlement check; continued support should not be assumed.
