Edge-Core 400G Switches

Edge-Core 400G data center switches are the industry's first to have
a 400G open design, deliver high performance and density,
as well as low latency and exceptional power and efficiency in
several form factors.

Overview of Edge-Core 400G Switches

As our data-centric world rapidly develops around us, the capacity of the networks that carry all the data traffic are constantly being stretched to their limits. The ever-increasing rise of more and more cloud applications and services, the expanding use of video in many applications, and a steady climb in the number of users all adds up to an unrelenting volume of data. With Hyperscale data center operators looking for solutions to the current traffic growth, they also have to cope with an upcoming traffic surge from new technologies. The advent of 5G mobile networks, the Internet of Things (IoT), edge computing, and AI machine learning and deep learning are all data intensive and are poised to cause a massive increase in network traffic. A typical hyperscale data center has seen storage increasing more than 50% annually for some years, with by far the bulk of data traffic being moved within the data center. Hyperscale data center operators are now looking to the next-generation 400G network infrastructure to help absorb the demanding workloads. With greater server density and processing power in the data center, operators need the higher-bandwidth 400G links to replace the limited 100G/200G connections. But, 400G offers operators much more than that. The new advanced 400G network equipment delivers greater efficiency, at a lower cost per bit, lower power, with potentially fewer points of failure in the network. As operators struggle to meet high-volume network demands, reduce operational costs and reach sustainability goals, 400G offers an ideal solution.

Open networking is helping to transform the way IT is deployed and used by many types of businesses.

Open networks are based on networking hardware whose designs are fully open-sourced, with a choice of independent open sostware for NOS, SDN, virtualization and cloud orchestration.

Edgecore AS9716-32D Spine Switch

The Edgecore AS9716-32D is a spine switch for high-performance data centers. The switch provides line-rate L2 and L3 switching across the 32 x QSFP56-DD ports, each supporting 1 x 400 GbE or 1 x 100 GbE, or via breakout cables 4 x 100 GbE or 4 x 25 GbE. The AS9716-32D can be deployed as a spine switch supporting 100/400 GbE spine interconnects. This open network switch is loaded with the Open Network Install Environment (ONIE), which supports the installation of compatible Network Operating System software, including the open source options Open Network Linux, plus commercial NOS offerings.

Minipack AS8000 Modular Platform

The Minipack AS8000 switch is a modular system capable of supporting a mix of 100G and 400G Ethernet interfaces up to a maximum of 128x100G or 32x400G ports. Minipack is based on an internal main switch board with Broadcom StrataXGS Tomahawk™ III Switch Series silicon capable of line rate 12.8Tbps Layer2 and Layer3 switching. The Minipack front panel has eight slots for port interface modules (PIM). The first PIM options available for the Edgecore Minipack switch are the PIM-16Q with 16x100G QSFP28 ports, and the PIM-4DD with 4x400G QSFP-DD ports. The Minipack modular switch is a 4U form factor, power optimized for data center deployments, and provides hot-swappable redundant power supplies and fans to meet high availability requirements.
